Mỗi tháng giáo viên chuyên biệt (như nhạc, mỹ thuật) tổng cộng phải ghi chép vào 63 cuốn sổ gồm sổ điểm và sổ theo dõi chất lượng, chưa kể giáo án, sổ dự giờ, sổ hội họp... và mấy trăm học sinh phải nhận xét từng em một. Họ tranh thủ bất cứ lúc nào để viết sổ: trong lớp khi học sinh đang làm bài, giờ trống ở trường, về nhà... "Em dạy 150 học sinh, phải thức cả đêm để làm sổ"-một cô giáo kể với tôi. Số lời nhận xét phải viết tay quá nhiều khiến giáo viên phải tìm cách đối phó. Họ lặng lẽ chuyền nhau những "nhận xét mẫu" cho từng môn, chỉ cần bê nguyên văn vào sổ. Có giáo viên tiết lộ: "Cứ bịa phứa vào theo kiến thức chuẩn. Chứ dạy thể dục hàng trăm em, nhớ làm sao hết mà ghi". Cách được dùng nhiều hơn là chia đều số tiết giảng dạy cho số giáo viên trong trường, cuối cùng so với số tiết chuẩn 17-19 tiết (THCS, THPT), có giáo viên chỉ còn dạy 5-7 tiết/tuần.
